MOUNTAIN EXPLORERS

Is your child looking to improve their skiing skills? Is your child interested in learning about ski racing? If so, this is a great group for you! The focus is on having fun on the mountain while helping each child develop into stronger skiers. The evenings will be spent skiing together as a group with a low athlete to coach ratio. Athletes will working on drills to develop a strong foundation and eventually will progress into running ski race courses. This program runs one evening a week. Participants must be able to ride the chair lift (although we can help them get onto the lift if needed) and be comfortable skiing down green trails. 

  • We have three session options available.

    • Mountain Explorers, Team Reindeer - Sunday afternoons Noon-1:30PM at Tyrol Basin

    • Mountain Explorers, Team Polar Bear - Tuesday evenings 5:30-7:00PM at Tyrol Basin

    • Mountain Explorers, Team Penguin - Thursday evenings 5:30-7:00PM at Tyrol Basin

    • Mountain Explorers, Team Arctic Fox - Includes Sundays (Noon-1:30PM) and Tuesdays (5:30-7:00PM) at Tyrol Basin

    • Mountain Explorers, Team Snowy Owls - Includes Sundays (Noon-1:30PM) and Thursdays (5:30-7:00PM) at Tyrol Basin

    • Mountain Explorers, Team Snow Leopards - Includes Tuesday (5:30-7:00PM) and Thursday (5:30-7:00PM) at Tyrol Basin

  • Programs runs for 9 weeks. First week begins on the week of December 30th and ends the last week of February (last Thursday is 2/28). The full calendar is published on the Mad Alpine Calendar.

  • A high level of support from a professional experienced coaching staff. All coaches are registered USSA (United States Ski Association) coaches that have been background checked and are continually seeking education to improve their coaching skills.

  • A low athlete to coach ratio.

  • Athletes that enjoy this program may be interested in trying our Wisconsin Junior Racing program in the coming season(s).

  • Helmets are mandatory. For help with equipment, please see parent resource section.

  • If your child is comfortable skiing on own down blue trails but still needs chair lift assistance, please contact us and we can discuss if this program is the right fit.

  • Program cost: One session per week $200 for the season and two sessions per week $375 for the season (+$20 US Ski & Snowboard Membership Fee, see note below)


REQUIREMENTS

  • All Mad Alpine members (no matter what program) are required to have a license with US Ski & Snowboard. For Mountain Explorers you are required to have a "General Membership" of $20. The USSA General Membership provides benefits including insurance and discounts. Please sign up for the USSA membership prior to signing up for Mad Alpine. Register here.

  • Helmets are required to be worn each session.

  • Lift tickets and ski equipment are not included in the program. You can purchase a daily lift ticket or a season pass directly through Tyrol Basin.
