2019-2020 Dryland TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

Athletes looking to make the most of their ski season should be engaging in dryland training in the off season. The spring, summer and fall preparation periods are essential to starting the ski season off right. For all of our athletes, we highly encourage them to participate in other sports during the skiing off season. For athletes looking for more specific training or to supplement their training, we offer a fantastic dryland program through our partner, CrossFit Big Dane! Check out the details below! In addition, we run a team building dryland training program starting in late October and November to further help prepare the athletes for the winter season.

Ages 10 to 15:

This program is being specially tailored to this age group to allow for a fun and safe environment to improve mobility, endurance, agility, and learn weight lifting techniques. I am BEYOND excited for this amazing NEW program of INTRO TO WEIGHT LIFTING. This is a program I have been wanted to implement for over two years and it is FINALLY HERE! We are so excited to be able to offer this program, because it means we can teach our athletes proper form, techniques, and gym etiquette to ensure they are safe when they proceed in the future with more advanced forms of lifting and other athletics.

Proper body mechanics will not only help improve their muscle development, but it will decrease the chance of injury.  This training will provide body awareness and help to engrain and ensure inherent athletic form.

Not only will this training provide athletes with the tools to accomplish their goals, but will continue to build our team and our passion for ski racing throughout the off-season. (Please note that these age groups are flexible and can be based off of ability as well as preference of training)

Ages 16 to 21:

This is another program we are VERY excited about. Not only will we have this separate program for our older athletes, but we will be adding in a specific program of OLYMPIC LIFTING. We will still have the similar endurance, agility, and strength training drills, but we are adding the component of Olympic lifting to create a well-rounded athletic environment to develop and build valuable skills and strength.  This is a program that the U.S. Ski Team often implements into their programs to ensure their athletes can demonstrate mastery of both lifting techniques and heavy weight training. If you are at the FIS level of competition in ski racing on our team, it is highly highly recommended to complete this training on a regular basis.

I want to emphasize that this type of training should be done in a regulated, certified, and accredited facility where we can closely monitor form, progress, and variety of exercises. The safest and most productive environment for this training is in a facility with a qualified professional. Barrett, his team, and coach Kayleigh have extensive certifications and experience in this type of conditioning to provide our athletes with the highest quality of professional training. If you currently train at home or school you are welcome to continue that training. HOWEVER, it cannot substitute for these dryland sessions.  We want to ensure you have the best foundation to progress in your cross training by working with all of our athletes individually. Finally, by coming to these sessions we can help build our team, sportsmanship, and strength together, which is a compulsory factor to a successful ski racer and team.
